Judy Goldring, Chair of the Governing Council, led senior U of T officials in welcoming His Excellency Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, President of the Republic of Iceland, to the University. Professor Stephen Toope, Director of the Munk School of Global Affairs, introduced the President. The focus of the event, attended U of T faculty, staff, and students, members of the Icelandic-Canadian community, and dignitaries from Iceland and Canada, was a keynote address by His Excellency, “The Arctic And The Himalayas: New Models Of Cooperation”.
