Canadian Citizenship Ceremony at Convocation Hall

President Gertler spoke at a Citizenship Ceremony in Convocation Hall, helping to welcome some 500 new Canadians as fellow citizens. Chancellor Patten also spoke at the event, as did Professor Maydianne Andrade, Vice-Dean of Faculty Affairs and Equity at UTSC, who shared from her childhood experience moving to Canada with her family from Jamaica. The Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and M.P. for York South–Weston, also attended to help celebrate the occasion.
