Jan Gehl, the internationally acclaimed architect and urban designer, was awarded the degree Doctor of Laws, honoris causa. The degree was conferred in celebration of his extensive research on how humans function in, and respond to the built environment. Over his distinguished 50-year career, his approach – emphasizing quality of life – has profoundly influenced contemporary urban design the world over.
