Peter and Rosemary Grant – Honorary Degree Ceremony

Professors Peter and Rosemary Grant each received the degree Doctor of Science, honoris causa. They are distinguished for their remarkable long-term studies of evolution by natural selection in finches on the Galápagos Islands. Through these studies they have demonstrated a much more dynamic picture of evolution than had previously been known, elucidating how new species arise and genetic diversity is maintained in natural populations.
